Weekend Wrapup: 20/May - 26/May

In this week's 'slighty late' weekend wrapup, doujinshi translation, new Studio 4°C web series, Busou Shinki gets another TV series and more;

The Digital Manga Guild (DMG) announced their plans to translate light novels and doujinshi titles. The announcement was made at their panel at Fanime on Friday with details of the program which will pay their standard 15% of revenue and a $50 payment per title due to the complexities of translating light novels. They will also be translating doujinshi titles in collaboration with Aksys and DLsite and will begin with five titles by Nao Yazawa (Wedding Peach, Moon & Blood). They also went into prelimary numbers on sales in the first full quarter of their translation program.

Studio 4°C and Toyota Motor Corporation's promotional web series PES: Peace Eco Smile began streaming with english subtitles on friday. The shorts follow two characters who immerse themselves in a tokyo neighbourhood to learn lessons from humanity.

A new television adaptation of Konami's Busou Shinki line has been announced for the fall season. The series will follow an setting five minutes into the future that has robots integrated into everyday aspects of life. The Shinki are 15cm tall intelligient robot partners that devote themselves to serving their masters. The series follows a group of shinki whose lives change when their master, a high school freshman, has a new Shinki join them. The series will be directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi (Infinite Stratos, Macross Frontier) with scripts by Masahiro Yokotani (Maria Holic; Steins;Gate, K-ON!) and designs by Takahiro Kishida (Madoka Magica, Cheburashka Arere?).

And finally Kenji Kamiyama, the director of 009 Re:Cyborg has revealed through his facebook page that a English localisation for the film is currently in development.
