Crunchyroll Adds Polar Bear's Café TV Anime

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the Polar Bear's Café (Shirokuma Café) television anime series as it airs in Japan. Crunchyroll will stream the series for premium members worldwide outside of Japan starting on Thursday, April 5 at 5:00 a.m. PDT. The website will also stream the series for free members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
The anime adapts Aloha Higa's gag comedy manga that follows the daily life of penguins, grizzly bears, and other animals at a café run by a polar bear.
The anime will star Takahiro Sakurai as Polar Bear and Jun Fukuyama as Panda, and Fukuyama will also sing the show's ending theme song "Bamboo☆Scramble." Other cast members include Hiroshi Kamiya as Penguin, Aya Endō as Sasako, Daisuke Ono as Llama, and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Panda Mama.
Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Chi's Sweet Home, Kobato.) will direct the series off of scripts by Toru Hosokawa (Coji-Coji). Studio Pierrot will animate the series. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 5.
