Newtype, Ufotable to Host Anime Awards

Newtype announced on Wednesday that has established a yearly anime award contest and anime film festival. The festival, titled "Newtype x Machi ★ Asobi! The Moving Pictures Festival," will be hosted in Tokushima prefecture in September and October. Newtype's official website is currently hosting an online contest for the awards. The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the anime film festival on October 8-10. The festival will also screen the winning titles on those days. The festival will Screen Anime at various assembly halls throughout Tokushima prefecture on September 23-25 and on October 1-2. ufotable president Hikaru Kondo is coordinating the event. Viz Pictures president Seiji Horibuchi will be a guest at the event.

The contest is for any anime that began airing between October 2010 and July 2011. Visitors to the site can vote for 21 different categories, including best anime, best director, and best male and female voice actor. Visitors can vote on the site until September 30.
