Man Arrested for Selling TV Anime DVD Copies

The police of Saitama's Cyber Crime Task Force and Ōmiya Ward arrested 42-year-old Atsushi Yoshida of Tokyo on suspicion of selling DVD copies of television anime and other works through mobile phone auctions. According the police announcement, Sugimoto sold 61 copied DVDs containing television anime and variety programs without authorization between February of 2010 and April of this year. Police reported finding a copy machine, a scanner, and about 470 items at the suspect's home. According to the authorities, the suspect made 23 million yen (about US$280,000) between 2003 and now.
