Kiss Dum R Anime's BD-Box to Add New Footage
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese anime distributor Bandai Visual will sell a Blu-ray Disc box of the Engage Planet Kiss Dum R science-fiction television anime series, and it plans to include newly produced footage among its bonus extras. Engage Planet Kiss Dum R is itself a revised 2008 version of the 2007 Engage Planet Kiss Dum television anime series.
A DVD release of the original Engage Planet Kiss Dum television anime series was planned in 2007, but due to "circumstances during production," the DVDs were delayed indefinitely. The anime has regularly appeared on Blu-ray Disc Association's survey of the titles that people want on the Blu-ray format. However, the BD-Box will contain footage up-converted from standard-definition video.
Besides the footage that was created for the 2008 Engage Planet Kiss Dum R revamp, the BD-Box will have bonus extras that were produced at the time but have yet to be released to the public. Plus, still more new footage is being produced as planned bonus extras.
A new promotional video will be unveiled at the G Festival x Emotion Festival 2011 event in Tokyo on March 13. The video will then be posted on the box's official site on the following day. Bandai Visual will provide more specific information about the box on April 11. Japan's BS11 satellite channel will re-run the R version on Saturdays starting on April 9.
Yasuchika Nagaoka (Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars) created and directed the series at the anime studio Satelight with mechanical designs by Shōji Kawamori (Aquarion, Macross Frontier).
