Summer Wars & Akira in Vancouver, Ghibli in Amsterdam (Updated)

The Rio Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia will host the Canadian premiere of Mamoru Hosoda's anime film Summer Wars and Katsuhiro Ōtomo's 1988 anime film Akira as a double feature on February 25. Admission is C$10 per movie or C$15 for both, and doors open at 7 p.m. PST.
Melkweg, a concert and film venue in Amsterdam, Netherlands, will hold a Studio Ghibli retrospective marathon from March 9 through 30. The screenings launch with the studio's latest film Arrietty. The marathon continues with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Pom Poko, Porco Rosso, Howl's Moving Castle, Grave of the Fireflies, Gedo Senki, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, The Cat Returns, Ponyo, and Whisper of the Heart. During this time frame, Melkweg will also host screenings of Summer Wars, which opened at the venue on February 12.
Last October, the 5th International Rome Film Festival hosted another Studio Ghibli retrospective in Italy.
