posted on by Egan Loo
The movie news source Cinema Today began streaming the 73-second trailer for Noboru Iguchi's manga-based, live-action Tomie: Unlimited film on Wednesday. The short stories in Junji Ito's popular Tomie horror manga series centered around an enigmatic girl who appears again and again in various people's lives and haunts them until their eventual end.
In this eighth live-action Tomie theatrical film, 19-year-old actress and occasional manga creator Miu Nakamura plays Tomie herself. 15-year-old actress Moe Arai plays Tsukiko, a girl whose older sister is mysteriously revived after an accident.
The last Tomie film, Tomie vs. Tomie, opened in Japan in 2007. Other actresses who have played the heroines in the Tomie franchise include Aoi Miyazaki (NANA) and Sayaka Yamaguchi (Nodame Cantabile in Europe), while Miho Kanno (Hataraki Man) and Miki Sakai (SaiKano) have played the title character herself. (Besides the eight films, there has also been a live-action television adaptation.)
The film will open in Japan on May 14.
