Iryu Medical Manga Gets 3rd Live-Action TV Season

Japan's Fuji TV will launch a third season of its popular live-action television adaptation of Akira Nagai and Tarō Nogizaka's Iryū - Team Medical Dragon manga this October. The Iryū - Team Medical Dragon 3 television season will star 34-year-old Kenji Sakaguchi (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) as Ryūtarō Asada, a genius surgeon regarded as a renegade in the eyes of other Japanese doctors because of his methods. 24-year-old Teppei Koike (Gokusen, Love*Com the Movie) and 38-year-old Izumi Inamori will also return from the first two seasons. 49-year-old Kenichi Endō (Crows Zero, Azumi) and 20-year-old Mitsuki Tanimura (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars) will join the cast as a rival doctor and a medical intern, respectively.
Part 1 aired in 2006 and it averaged 14.8% in ratings with a peak of 17.2%. Part 2 aired in 2007, and it averaged 17.2% and reached as high as 21.0%. Iryū - Team Medical Dragon 3 will be airing in the same Thursday 10:00 p.m. timeslot as its predecessors did.
