The official website for the live-action television series adaptation of Fujiko Fujio A's Kaibutsu-kun supernatural manga has announced on Saturday that an all-new television special has been green-lit. The final episode of the television series aired on the NTV network on Saturday, but the 90-minute "Mō Kaette Kita yo!! Kaibutsu-kun Subete Shinsaku SP" program will air on June 26 at 9:00 p.m. The story takes place after Kaibutsu-kun, the prince of Kaibutsu Land, is separated from his human friends Hiroshi and Utako and returns to his homeland. Arashi band member Satoshi Ohno stars as the title character.
Fujiko Fujio A is best known for co-creating the classic manga Doraemon. Tokyo Movie Shinsha had previously animated his Kaibutsu-kun manga into a 1968-1969 television series, and Shin'ei Doga animated a remake from 1980 to 1982. There was also an anime film in 1981.
