posted on by Egan Loo
The Box Office Mojo website reports on Friday that Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo anime film has surpassed the US$15 million threshold at the box office in the United States. As of October 22, the film has earned US$15,006,092. It has been in American theaters for 70 days, although it was in just 45 theaters during the October 16-18 weekend. It is still the fifth highest grossing theatrical anime release in the United States, below Pokémon 3 - The Movie (US$17,052,128).
Frank Marshall, the co-producer of the film's North American dubbing and theatrical release, reported on his personal Twitter account last weekend that the DVD "will be out in March."
