posted on by Egan Loo
The North American distributor Funimation has announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Kazuki Akane and Satelight's Heat Guy J television anime series from CREi. The science-fiction crime drama features scriptwriter Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Noein - to your other self, Arjuna) and character designer Nobuteru Yūki (Escaflowne, X, Record of Lodoss War). In the story, Special Services Division operative Daisuke Aurora and his android partner "J" root out the mafia elements in the oceanic city-nation of Judoh.
Funimation will release the entire 26-episode anime series in a box set later this year. Geneon Entertainment had previously released this anime in North America before it ceased in-house distribution of its own titles in September 2007.
Update: Satelight's credit corrected. Thanks, fetchie.
