Contest Held for Animated Cameos in Japan's Stitch! Show
posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: To promote the recently announced second season of the Stitch! television series for Japan, Disney has launched an "Anata ga Disney Character ni! Stitch! Anime Shutsuensha Daiboshū" (You Can Be a Disney Character! Stitch! Anime Cameo Casting Call") contest on April 1. As the contest's winners, an elementary student and a family (of four members or less) in Japan will be animated as "Disney characters" for cameos in the second season.
After the animated cameos, the winners will hold interviews with the media and Disney's own website and appear at events. Applicants must submit photographs of their smiling faces and a message to the alien Stitch! character to encourage him to do good deeds. The contest deadline is May 31, and the winners will be announced in August. The second season will premiere this fall in Japan, although the cameos will not be televised until next January.
The Madhouse anime studio produced the first season of Japan's Stitch! television series. Unlike the previous spinoffs that Walt Disney developed for its 2002 Lilo & Stitch! animated film, this project is specifically aimed at the Japanese market. Whereas the previous Lilo & Stitch! sequels co-starred a Hawaiian girl named Lilo, Madhouse's Stitch! series is based in a fictional island in southern Japan with a Japanese heroine named Yūna.
