Future Diary, Blazing Transfer Student Creators Launch Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) manga creator Sakae Esuno launched a spinoff manga called Mirai Nikki: Paradox in the Winter issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Ace Assault magazine on December 9. Esuno had been drawing another manga called Mirai Nikki: Mosaic in the same magazine from the Summer 2007 premiere issue until the Fall 2008 issue. (Ace Assault is a quarterly spinoff from Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine.) The main Mirai Nikki suspsense manga has been running in Monthly Shōnen Ace since the January 2006. Amazon lists Future Diary among Tokyopop's future offerings in North America.
Kazuhiko Shimamoto, the manga creator who is arguably best known for creating Blazing Transfer Student and The Skull Man remake, is also launching a new manga tentatively titled Asuka@Mirai-kei in 2009's 2nd issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine on January 19. The announcement was made in 2009's first issue, which was released on December 19. The story will center around a female prep school student named Manaka and the seemingly stupid boy named Asuka who transfers into Manaka's school. However, Asuka may not be as stupid as he seems. It has been half a year since Shinamoto ended his Shin Hoero Pen manga in the same magazine.
