Joost to Stream Kaiji, Buzzer Beater Anime in December
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese broadcaster NTV will begin providing English-subtitled episodes of the Ultimate Survivor Kaiji and Buzzer Beater anime to the Joost video-streaming service in the United States in December. NTV made the announcement on Wednesday in conjunction with Yoshimoto Kōgyō and Dentsu. The anime will be distributed for free on their own "channel" on Joost, which will also have a Japanese Humor ~Owarai~ channel for comedy and variety programs from the three Japanese companies. There are a total of six titles with 105 episodes for 35 hours of programming currently planned. The Kaiji anime adapted Nobuyuki Fukumoto's manga about a man who becomes a master gambler to pay off a coworker's debt. The Buzzer Beater basketball manga from Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk, REAL) was animated into two television series in 2005 and 2007.
Joost already hosts many other anime programs from A.D. Vision's Anime Network, Funimation, Gong, Sony Pictures, and Viz Media. NTV's rival broadcaster TV Tokyo announced on Monday that its Naruto anime will appear on Joost as well as on the Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Naruto.com websites.
