posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 20th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine has confirmed on Friday that the Black God (Kurokami) supernatural action manga by Korean author Dall-Young Lim and artist Sung-woo Park will be animated by Sunrise. Kurokami The Animation will revolve around an ordinary game programmer named Keita who gets caught in a battle being fought by Kuro — a Mototsumitama or a guardian of the coexistence equilibrium. Kuro saves Keita's life and regenerates an arm that Keita loses when they first meet. Tsuneo Kobayashi (Emma: A Victorian Romance, Glass no Kamen, The Twelve Kingdoms) will be directing off scripts supervised by Reiko Yoshida (The Story of Saiunkoku, Jyu Oh Sei, Mushi-Uta). Hiroyuki Nishimura (Deltora Quest, Ys II) is designing the characters and overseeing the animation.
Noriko Shitaya (Air Gear, Fate/stay night) will play Kuro, and Daisuke Namikawa (Arc the Lad, Gantz, Black Lagoon) will play Keita. The other castmembers include Sayaka Ōhara, Yukari Tamura, and Jouji Nakata.
Yen Press is publishing the fourth volume of the manga in North America this month.
