Fiat to Launch Limited-Edition Lupin III Car
posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The racing website Crash.net reports that Italian auto maker Fiat is launching a limited-edition run of its new Fiat Nuova 500 cars with an image of Monkey Punch's iconic manga and anime character, the gentleman thief Lupin III. The Nuova 500's predecessor and inspiration, the classic 1957 Fiat 500 "cinquecento," has played a major role in various Lupin III works, such as the Hayao Miyazaki-directed Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and this year's Lupin III: Green vs Red television movie (pictured at right). The cars will be available starting in the second half of 2009.
In addition, Fiat has also designed a Lupin-inspired paint scheme for the Fiat Yamaha M1 motorcycle that Spanish racer Jorge Lorenzo used in the Japanese Grand Prix race of the International Motorcycling Federation's Road Racing World Championship Season on Sunday. Fiat said that its goal is to "reach out to motorbike racing fans through projects linked to the world of creativity and design so that it can communicate above all with younger members of its audience."
