Sony's A-1 Previews NecroDragon, First Shown at AX
posted on by Egan Loo
A-1 Pictures, the studio backed by Sony's Aniplex production company, provided more details about its NecroDragon theatrical anime film. The studio previewed this computer graphics (CG) project for the first time at its panel at Anime Expo 2007. Takaharu Ozaki, the CG designer and director of Metropolis and Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, co-created the original concept of NecroDragon and is directing this 90-minute film.
The story is several decades into the future, after Tokyo is razed to ground by an earthquake and a new Ward 24 is built on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay. Assassins wipe out the family of police sniper Shinobu Ryuzaki and steal his family's secret ninja scrolls and swords. Seeking vengeance, Ryuzaki assumes the identity of NecroDragon to hunt down the leader of the assassins, no matter how many ninjas and robots stand in his path.
