Naisho no Tsubomi, Kaiji, Noramimi TV Anime Announced

The promotional sleeve wrapper for the Naisho no Tsubomi: Mebae compiled manga volume (on sale July 28) announced that a Naisho no Tsubomi anime is in the works for next spring. Yū Yabuuchi (Aqua Age, Shōjo Shōnen) draws this critically acclaimed manga about a fifth-grade girl named Tsubomi who deals with issues such as her mother's pregnancy, her first period, and budding feelings for boys. This "girls' sex education" manga (and its Mebae prequel) has been running in Shogakukan's Shōgaku Yonnensei and Shōgaku Gonensei (literally, "Elementary Fourth-Grader" and "Elementary Fifth- Grader") magazines.
Issue 35 (on sale August 30) of Kodansha's Young Magazine announced that the Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji gambling manga by Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Akagi, Kokuhaku -CONFESSION-) will be animated for an October series premiere. This 1998 Kodansha Manga Award winner and its two sequels center on a gambler named Kaiji who bets on games ranging from janken (rock-paper-scissors) and human racing to falling pachinko (Japanese pinball) balls and two-player mahjong (Chinese tile game).
The September issue (on sale July 25) of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine announced that Kazuo Hara's Noramimi manga will be animated. The whimsical manga revolves around Hello Kids Office #59, an agency hired by parents to find mascot characters for their pre-teen children.
