posted on by Egan Loo
Anime Expo 2007 has announced that Chiaki Ishikawa, the singer-songwriter of themes for anime that include .hack//SIGN, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, and Simoun, will perform a one-hour concert on Sunday, July 1, at the Long Beach Arena in California. In her solo career, she sang theme songs for Mermaid Forest, Simoun, and Bokurano, as well as the song "Namida" that was used in Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto. As lead singer, she created the musical duo See-Saw with acclaimed composer Yuki Kajiura. See-Saw performed the themes for several .hack projects and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, as well as its Gundam Seed Destiny sequel.
Victor Entertainment will also host another musical duo, Savage Genius, at Anime Expo. The duo, which is composed of Aa (vocalist and lyricist) and Takumi (composer, arranger, producer, guitarist), performed theme songs for Uta∽Kata, Elemental Gelade, Simoun, and the currently running El Cazador de la Bruja.
Ishikawa and Savage Genius join a musical line-up that already includes the female teen ska band ORESKABAND, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's SOS Brigade, the new J-rock supergroup SKIN, and Akihabara idol Halko Momoi.
