Bandai to Publish Top Cow Titles in Manga Format
posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Bandai Entertainment (BEI) has announced that it will republish Top Cow's Tomb Raider and Witchblade properties in "manga format."
The manga format graphic novels will be in black and white (the originals were in color) and will be much thicker than Top Cow's color trade paperbacks. Each "manga-format" volume will contain 10 issues of the comic.
When asked why Manga Entertainment was re-publishing the titles, Robert Napton, editor of BEI's manga division explained, " Our publishing program is broad, and we intend to not just include manga," adding, "Given Witchblade's upcoming release in Japan, we feel this makes sense for us."
Gonzo is producing a Witchblade TV series, due to be broadcast in Japan this spring, and Akita Shoten will be publishing an original Witchblade manga starting in the April 2006 issue of Champion RED magazine, on sale March 18.
No plans have been announced for a North American release of the Witchblade anime or manga.
