New ADV Releases
posted on by Jonathan Mays
On May 13th ADV Films will release Casshan: Robot Hunter on DVD. Originally released by Streamline Pictures in 1993, the title was presented as a four-episode OAV series in Japan, but as a single feature film by Streamline. ADV's announced release will be Streamline's “feature-length film”, with only their English Language dub. The retail price for Casshan: Robot Hunter is $24.98.
Casshan has been released individually in North America before however, distributed by Orion. the Casshan OAVs are a follow-up to the 1973 TV series.
Another ADV re-release, Variable Geo, will become available May 27th. The new Variable Geo release will include all three episodes and retail for $19.98.
A previous incarnation of this post neglected to mention that Casshan had also been previously released seperately.
Furthermore, we repeated erroneous information found elsewhere that ADV had previously edited Variable Geo into a single feature film. Having verified these details with ADV we were informed that "Variable Geo is three episodes. That's the only way we've ever released it. It was released on one VHS, but it was still three separate episodes."
ANN Apologizes for these errors and would like to thank Adam Rehorn and Marc Lunden for pointing them out.
