Although not entirely a secret, Mike Tatsugawa has openly confirmed Anime Expo's intentions of becoming an international convention. "Our vision is that when we finally host an international convention in 2003" says Mike Tatsugawa in a post to the Anime Cons ML, "that we take the best staffers from all the cons in the United States to work it.". Mike also confirmed that AX New York is a "training ground" to determine the viability of a long distance convention.
