Sen To Chihiro Breaks Japanese Box Office Record

Movie breaks the record for a Japanese movie.
According to Mainichi Shimbun ("Daily Mainichi"), Miyazaki's latest film Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi ("Sen and Chihiro Spirited Away") , which opened on the 20th in Japan, was shwon to 1.46 million people (80% more than Mononoke Hime) and raked in 1.95437 billion Yen in its first four days in theatres. This is a new record for a Japanese movie in the first four days; the Japanese box office record for first week ticket sales is held by the American film Star Wars Fantom Menace (2.552 billion yen), Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi is expected to break this record.
