Okhotsk International Comic Expo seeks entrants

The 9th international Okhotsk International Cartoon and Comic Exhibition is seeking cartoonists from around the world to send in their comic strips for entry in this year's contest, the theme of which is "fight".
The grand prize winner will receive ¥500,000, two second-prize winners will get ¥300,000 each, four third-prize winners will get ¥200,000 each, and six fourth-prize winners will get ¥100,000 each. There will also be a prize awarded by the four of the company sponsors (which include Yomuiri Shinbun, All Nippon Airways, Air Nippon, Saimaru Fujii Central, Pentel Co. and Rotring Japan, Ltd.) and 200 special merit awards. The contest is open to everyone regardless of nationality or professional status.
Works will be judged by a committee of manga artists, including Yoshirō Katō, Takashi Yanase, Monkey Punch, and Yumiko Igarashi, and entires must be recieved by February 26,1999. (Comic strips must not be more than 8 panels, sections of story cartoons or comic books can be 16-22 pages. Maximum size is 297mm x 420mm, and can be in crayon, pen and ink, india ink, watercolors, oils, cutouts, prints, and felt-tip pen.)
Winners will be announced and printed in April in the newspaper Yomuiri Shinbun in early April, and will go on display at the Kamiyubetsu Cartoon and Comic museum in Hokkaido and on the internet as well.
Entrants are asked to send their work along with the title, their name, age, occupation or school, telephone number, and address. They should be sent to:
