Odd Taxi Ends Blu-ray Box Pre-Order Campaign With Over 20x Minimum Sales Goal
posted on by Kim Morrissy
The Odd Taxi anime concluded its Blu-ray Box pre-order campaign on September 30. According to Pony Canyon's English website, 6,038 sets were ordered in total, over 20 times the minimum amount required for the set to be issued.
According to the anime's official website, the production committee originally had no plans to release a Blu-ray Box set due to the slump in home video sales in recent years. However, due to audience demand, the series launched a pre-order campaign in June.
In August, the campaign expanded to overseas customers.
The campaign featured a number of stretch goals for bundling bonus items, such as a staff artbook, a soundtrack outtake CD, an original picture, a new character song, and a Donraku eraser (similar to what appears in the anime itself). The initial highest goal was 3,000 orders, which promised to turn Odokawa into a "cute" figure, but a further stretch goal of 4,300 orders was added later for audio commentaries.
The mystery thriller anime revolving around anthropomorphic animals premiered on April 5.
