posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Prolific manga creators Moto Hagio and Arina Tanemura worked together on a new ad campaign for beauty brand Shiseido's Tsubaki hair care brand. The brand's official website updated on Monday with short, color manga pages by both artists.
The manga focuses on hair care for busy working women and mothers. The stories were also adapted into short videos.
Tanemura has previously designed characters for DMM Games' Alice Closet dress-up mobile game and Bandai Namco Games's IDOLiSH7 male idol game. She is also the creator of the Phantom Thief Jeanne, Time Stranger Kyoko, Full Moon o Sagashite, and Idol Dreams manga series.
Hagio's The Poe Clan, They Were Eleven, A Drunken Dream and Other Stories, A,A', The Heart of Thomas, and Otherworld Barbara manga have English releases. She won the Asahi Prize for fiscal year 2016. The award "honors distinguished individuals and groups in academics, arts and other fields who have contributed to advancements in Japanese culture and society." The foundation chose Hagio "for her innovative approach to drawing manga for young girls."
The campaign has also tapped artists Fumi Saimon (Tokyo Love Story), Yuki Suetsugu (Chihayafuru), and Maki Hirochi.
