posted on by Kim Morrissy

Voting opened on Friday for the fifth "Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō" (up-and-coming manga awards). The award is given out based on which manga receives the most votes from the online poll. Users can vote for up to three titles from a list of nominees in the "comics" category (referring to printed manga) and the "web manga" category.

This year had 2,082 entries. There are 50 nominees for the prize in each category. Voting will run from June 21 to July 5. The winners will be announced in mid-August, and the full rankings will be published in the Da Vinci magazine on October 5.

The award is co-organized by Kadokawa Media Factory's book and manga news magazine Da Vinci and streaming service Niconico. In 2017, Gaku Kuze's Uramichi Oniisan won the web manga division, while Aka Akasaka's Kaguya-sama: Love is War won the comics division. In 2018, Shiro Manta's Senpai ga Uzai Kōhai no Hanashi won the web manga division, while Asuka Konishi's Raise wa Tanin ga Ii won the comics division.
