Kodansha Sells Charity Art Collection to Support Japan's Flood Victims

Heavy rainfall caused flooding and landslides throughout western Japan left a last mark this year with towns like Iwakuni in Yamaguchi prefecture damaged and over 200 hundred victims killed. Artists began a chain of drawings to show support for those affected and companies like Cygames donated millions of yen for relief efforts.
Kodansha's web manga service Comic Days is bringing in its artists for the "West Japan Support Illustration Collection." Until September 30, Kodansha will sell an art book with all proceeds donated for disaster relief. Each book will cost 800 yen (US$7).
Participating artists include Natsume Ando, Daisuke Igarashi, Tozen Ujiie, Yuki Urushibara, Natsumi Eguchi, Kaiji Kawaguchi, Masatoshi Kawahara, Kenshirō Sakamoto, Hiroto Saki and Shinya Kuwahara, Satoshi Shiki, Kouji Seo, Yukari Higa, Takeshi Hinata, Tekka Yaguraba, Tsuyoshi Yasuda, Miki Yoshikawa, and Shizumu Watanabe.
An additional 67 manga artists will contribute illustrations to the collection starting in early September.
