Godzilla, Pacific Rim Uprising Mechas Roar Into Battle in Official Promotional Art
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi (Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle), the second film in the Godzilla anime film trilogy, and the Pacific Rim Uprising film are collaborating to promote both their spring releases in Japan. Illustrator Hidetaka Tenjin (mechanical art for Macross Frontier, Aquarion Evol) drew a collaboration visual for both films.
The visual features Godzilla Earth from the upcoming anime film and four Jaegers (Gipsy Avenger, Saber Athena, Bracer Phoenix, Guardian Bravo) from the Pacific Rim live-action film. Tenjin said he felt a huge sense of responsibility in creating the visual and aimed to respect the artistic history of Godzilla and giant robots in Japan.
Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi will feature a "Godzilla Earth vs. Mechagodzilla" battle and open in Japan on May 18. Pacific Rim Uprising opened in North America on March 23 after a delay, and it will open in Japan on April 13.
