J-World Tokyo Theme Park Marks Reborn! Anime's 10th Anniversary

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Namco's J-World Tokyo indoor theme park revealed the details of its new Reborn! event on Thursday. The "Future Edition" event is one part of a three-part celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the anime of Akira Amano's Katekyo Hitman Reborn! manga.

The event will offer merchandise with new "Chibi World" illustrations of the anime's characters. "Chibi World" is the theme park's line of original super-deformed characters.

Visitors to the theme park during the event period will be able to play three special mini games. The box garapon game will award players a different prize depending on which colored ball they take out of the lottery box. Each attempt at the game will cost 500 yen (about US$4). The prizes are three varieties of box pouches, four varieties of double charms, 10 varieties of die-cut board badges, and 13 varieties of tin badges.

In the "Choice Battle" game, players will choose a target card and aim at the designated target to earn points. Prizes will vary depending on the points earned. Each attempt at the game will cost 400 yen (US$4). The prizes are four varieties of acrylic key holders, 11 varieties of holographic tin badges, and 11 varieties of illustration sheets.

The fillet delivery game will require players to give plates of meat fillets to bosses. Prizes will vary depending on the points earned. Each attempt at the game will cost 400 yen (US$4). The prizes are three varieties of acrylic key holders, four varieties of holographic tin badges, and 10 varieties of illustration sheets.

A rally quiz game will test players' knowledge of Reborn!. People who answer at least three questions correctly will receive one of 15 varieties of icon tin badges. Two different sets will be available from June 5 to July 18 and from July 19 to August 31. Each attempt at the quiz will cost 320 yen (US$3).

Fans will be able to feast on a 10-item menu of themed food and desserts. Options include spaghetti alle vongole in rosso for 940 yen (US$8), fruit pizza for 920 yen (US$8), and rare cheesecake for 730 yen (US$7). For each item ordered, people will receive one of 12 original postcards.

Original goods available for purchase at the event will include three varieties of illustration sheet files for 1,620 yen (US$14) and seven varieties of die-cut cushions for 1,980 yen (US$18). While supplies last, fans who purchase event items will receive a Reborn! 10th anniversary postcard.

The event will run at J-World Tokyo from June 5 to August 31. Reborn!-themed attractions and goods debuted at the park last year in an event that ran until January. The other parts of the anime's 10th anniversary celebration are the return of "Vongole Festa" at Tokyo Dome City's Jump Shop and a themed cafe at Niconico headquarters' nicocafe.

The anime premiered in October 2006, and Crunchyroll began streaming the series as it aired in Japan in 2009. Hulu and Viz Media also streamed the anime. The series is getting special Blu-ray Disc box and compilation CD releases in Japan to mark its 10th anniversary.
