Gamer Completes Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 60 Minutes
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
It took only a day for one of the first The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedruns to show up on YouTube. YouTuber Venick409 completed the game's main story line in 84 minutes, but admitted it could be done faster since they wiped while fighting the final boss. Venick has already bettered their time, shaving it down to an hour and five minutes. They are currently holding second place on the game's speedrun leader board, behind Orcastraw.
Orcastraw uploaded his speedrun of one hour and 50 seconds on Thursday. The European player utilizes amiibos to better his time, while Venick does not. He also changed the language to German, which is faster than the other options.
Nintendo revealed the game was in development in 2013 and revealed the first gameplay footage in 2014. Nintendo originally planned to release the game in 2015, but then the company pushed the game back to 2016, and then delayed it again to 2017. While originally slated for release only for Nintendo's Wii U console, the game was released simultaneously for both the Wii U and the new Switch platform.
Nintendo offers a "Master Edition" of the game. The edition retails for US$129.99 and includes a Master Sword statue, Sheikah carrying case for the Switch, 24-track soundtrack, Sheikah eye coin, and tapestry world map.
