Maroon 5 Parodies Pokemon Go in New Music Video
posted on by Eric Stimson
While the initial fervor over the smartphone game Pokemon Go has calmed down over the months, it's still one of the year's biggest entertainment crazes. The American rock band Maroon 5 takes on the game in its latest music video, "Don't Wanna Know," which draws a connection between the crowds of eager Pokemon Go players and celebrity stalkers.
The video stars Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine as the main character, sort of a mutant Squirtle, and comedian Sarah Silverman as his ex-girlfriend, some kind of orange with big eyes. Comedians Ed Helms and Vince Vaughn also appear as an unfortunate eggplant and an exhausted red creature seeking refuge at a bar, respectively. The video is directed by David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers). Maroon 5 is slated to perform "Don't Wanna Know" on the talk show Ellen on November 3.
American presidential candidate Donald Trump has also parodied Pokemon Go to poke fun at his opponent, Hillary Clinton. The game earned $600 million in its first two months, and remains one of the highest-grossing games in Google Play and the iPhone App Store.
