Next year, the Pokemon trading card game reaches its 20th anniversary — the cards first went on sale in Japan in October 1996. To help bring back some memories, the original starter pack will be re-released on February 27 for 1,300 yen ($10.80).
The starter pack was designed to introduce budding Pokemon fans to the game, and it can still serve this purpose for newbies today. The pack has a deck of 60 cards, one Pokemon coin, and a manual. The deck varies depending on the pack.
The original card shields and play mat will also be resold, for 715 yen ($5.94) and 5,000 yen ($41.50) respectively.
British rapper Jme engaged in a high-profile Pokemon card trade this year for one of his albums.
