Louis Vuitton Debuts Anime, Game-Themed Fashion Show in Paris
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Anime is making down the fashion runway again in Louis Vuitton's Spring 2016 ready-to-wear show in Paris. The Paris Fashion Week began on September 30 with many A-List celebrities and aspiring style icons taking note of next year's trends.
Louis Vuitton is best known for its high-end handbag and wallets, but the French fashion house also debuted a ready-to-wear collection this year that pulls inspiration from the likes of Sailor Moon, Ghost in the Shell, and even Akira.
Much of the inspiration is hidden in the details. A pink-haired model wears a silver tiara, another wears a red leather jacket and a visor reminiscent of Motoko, color-blocked prints on the pants have a strong resemblance to Eva plug-suits, and a full leather ensemble takes more than a few notes from Tifa from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
Designer Nicolas Ghesquière credited the show's inspiration to the digital world, like Tron and Minecraft.
