Jump Amusement Park Celebrates Halloween with Kuroko's Basketball
posted on by Eric Stimson
The leaves are shriveling, the breeze is getting nippy, and the sweaters are re-emerging from storage: It's that time of year again, and soon enough Halloween will be upon us. Accordingly, Halloween promotions are in the works, including at J-World Tokyo, an amusement park in Ikebukuro that focuses on Shonen Jump series. Beginning on October 3, a Halloween-themed "Kurobas Matsuri" (Kuroko's Basketball Festival) will be held there.
Halloween in Japan means clothing characters in cute witch costumes, and the Kuroko's Basketball team is no exception. Chibi versions of the characters in witch garb will feature on cushions...
... postcards...
... and marshmallows.
Atsushi will also appear on this parfait, "Thor's Hammer," named after his signature move. It's over a foot tall and costs 2,080 yen (about $19). Only 15 will be made per day.
This Atsushi sundae can be had more cheaply (620 yen, or $5.66).
Meanwhile, Atsushi's voice actor, Kenichi Suzumura, will show up on October 9 for a talk; tickets will be available by raffle. If you miss the talk, you can always settle for a photo with Atsushi and hear special dialogue recorded by Suzumura for the festival.
The Kurobas Festival will last from October 3 to November 3 and from 10 AM to 10 PM each day. The entry fee is 800 yen ($7.30) for adults, 600 yen ($5.50) for children (defined as middle school students and below) and free for infants (defined as younger than 4).
