Wataru Watari's high school comedy light novels also inspire 4-panel manga

Shogakukan's Gagaga imprint announced on Tuesday that Nagi Yanagi will sing the opening theme song for the Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. (My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected) television anime series. The "Yukitoki" theme will go on sale on April 17 in a maxi-single with two other songs and the instrumental versions of all three. In addition, a four-panel manga adaptation of Wataru Watari's original light novel series will debut in Ichijinsha's 4-Koma Manga Palette magazine on March 22.

Watari's teen comedy revolves around an antisocial high school student named Hachiman Hikigaya (voiced by Takuya Eguchi) with a distorted view on life and no friends or girlfriend. When he see his classmates talking excitedly about living their adolescent lives, he mutters, "They're a bunch of liars." When he is asked about his future dreams, he responds, "Not working." A teacher gets Hachiman to join the volunteer "service club," which happens to have the school's prettiest girl, Yukino Yukinoshita (Saori Hayami).

Yanagi was once a guest singer for composer Ryo's supercell unit on Bakemonogatari's ending theme song "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari" and other songs. As a solo artist, Yanagi sang anime themes for Waiting in the Summer, Jormungand, and most recently, Amnesia.

The anime's staff includes:

The anime will premiere on April 4 on Tokyo's TBS station and then on April 13 on the BS-TBS channel.
