The official website for the anime film adaptation of Romeo Tanaka's Aura: Maryūinkōga Saigo no Tatakai light novel announced the lead cast on Friday. Nobunaga Shimazaki (Waiting in the Summer's Kaito, Shakugan no Shana III's Orobas) will play the protagonist Ichirō Satō, and Kana Hanazawa (Kobato.'s title character, Oreimo's Kuroneko, Deadman Wonderland's Shiro) will play Ryōko Satō.
The 2008 school romantic comedy novel revolves around Ichirō "Menzu" Satō, a high school freshman who forgets his textbook at school one day. Ichirō encounters a beautiful girl while sneaking back into his school in the dead of night. The girl claims she is from a parallel world. Ichirō used to suffer adolescent delusions like this, but vowed to stop so that he can successfully re-invent himself as a freshman in high school.
Seiji Kishi (Persona 4, Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) is directing the anime at AIC ASTA. Makoto Uezu (School Days, Is This a Zombie?, My Bride is a Mermaid) is collaborating on the story composition with scriptwriter Jun Kumagai (Persona 4 The Animation episodes). Kazuaki Morita (Carnival Phantasm, Kamisama Dolls, My Bride is a Mermaid) is adapting the original novel illustrations by mebae (C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility).
