NIS America Teaches Kana with Character Chowdown App
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
NIS America and video game developer Yummy Yummy Tummy released the iOS-based puzzle game Character Chowdown on Thursday. The game is designed to teach players Japanese katakana, hiragana and kanji characters. The initial game and first katakana pack are free, while additional hiragana and kanji packs available for purchase.
In the title, players control character-eating Nomnoms, teaching through repetition while focusing on characters the player misses most often and moving on past those they mastered.
Characters from Disgaea, another NIS America property, will cameo in the game via future downloadable content. Players will be able to earn achievements by clearing language packs and unlock customizable accessories to decorate Nomnoms to send as digital postcards.
