Square Enix revealed on Wednesday that it is developing the Final Fantasy Dimensions video game for iOS and Android devices. The official website for the game notes that it will be released this summer for iOS devices. The logo featured on the game's main website (pictured at right) is the same logo used for the Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi video game that was released in Japan for iMode and EZWeb phones in 2010.
Square Enix also revealed on Wednesday that it plans to include Final Fantasy Dimensions as a part of its Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) lineup during the June 5-7 event in Los Angeles. Square Enix describes the game as follows:
Drawing upon the roots of the series with such features as beautiful 2D pixel art, job-driven character growth, additional scenarios in which to inherit the jobs of your adventuring companions, and a classic story of light, darkness, and crystals, FINAL FANTASY DIMENSIONS delivers the best of FINAL FANTASY, retro and fresh alike, directly to your smartphone.
Square Enix's E3 lineup also includes Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, both of which will be released in North America this July.
