posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for the Soul Sacrifice action game began streaming the title's first trailer on Thursday. The 98-second video introduces the game's "true fantasy" scenario and includes game animation.
The player in the game is a slave to a cruel magician. As the slave is about to be sacrificed, a mysterious "Golam Book" that is actually monster in disguise appears before the slave. It is unclear if this book will be an enemy or an ally. The game will allow for up to four-player co-op play. In the world of the game, in order to use magic, a sacrifice must be offered. If correct compensation is not offered, magic users will lose their lives. The compensations range from simple items such as jewels to body parts. As magic users become more powerful, they lose their human appearance and will eventually turn into the monsters that inhabit the world.
The former CAPCOM game creator and Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune is helming the project at his studio comcept. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will produce the title developed by Marvelous AQL. Kentarou Motomura is serving as producer, while Teruyuki Toriyama will act as his assistant producer. Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Xenoblade Chronicles) and Wataru Hokoyama (Afrika) are in charge of the game's music.
Famitsu is currently hosting more than 50 screenshots from the game. The game's official website began streaming a 36-second teaser video for the video game on Monday.
Soul Sacrifice is slated to ship for the PlayStation Vita this winter.
