The website Gamer.ne.jp began streaming the two-minute opening movie for the Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darling fan disc port game on Friday. The video features the opening song "Kindan Mutaki no Darling" performed by the female pop group Afilia Saga East. The group performed the insert songs "My White Ribbon" and "Watashi ☆LOVE na☆ Otome!" for the original adventure game's television anime adaptation.
The regular version of the PlayStation Portable port will ship in Japan on April 24 and cost 6,090 yen (about US$75), while the limited edition will cost 8,190 yen (US$100). The PlayStation 3 port will ship on May 24 and also cost 6,090 yen (US$75). 5pb. and Nitroplus' original Steins;Gate "scientific adventure game" first shipped for the Xbox 360 in October 2009, and the fan disc shipped in June 2011. The television anime premiered in Japan from April to September 2011, and production of an anime film was green-lit last year.
The story of the original game revolves around the eccentric college student Rintarō "Okarin" Okabe and his "Mirai Gadget Kenkyūsho" ("Future Gadget Laboratory") circle of friends in a realistic version of Tokyo's Akihabara district. The friends turn a microwave oven into a machine that sends email messages to the past, and that attracts the attention of a mysterious organization called SERN.
