Yukari Tamura, Yui Horie, Akemi Kanda Cast in AKB48's AKB0048 Anime

The official website for AKB0048, the Spring anime inspired by the all-female idol group AKB48, announced on Saturday that three popular voice actresses will join the cast. The story is set in post-apocalyptic future when an idol group has risen up, assumed the name of the legendary group AKB48, and taken up the fight against the malevolent regime controlling Earth.
The three voice actresses will play legacy (or succession) members of AKB0048 who have assumed the names of the real-life AKB48 members. Nine real-life members of AKB48 (and its sister groups SKE48 and NMB48) will play the research students, or the trainee members who hope to one day become full AKB0048 members themselves.
Yukari Tamura will play Mayuyu, the third "model" based on the real-life AKB48 member Mayu Watanabe (The real-life Watanabe, who is also nicknamed Mayuyu, is voicing yet another character, the budding AKB0048 trainee Chieri Sono.) Tamura commented that she is a little nervous about playing the anime "Mayuyu" in front of the real Mayuyu.
Yui Horie will play Yukirin, the sixth-generation idol to assume the name of the real-life AKB48 member Yuki Kashiwagi (also nicknamed "Yukirin").
Akemi Kanda will play Yūko, the ninth-generation idol to assume the name of the real-life AKB48 member Yuko Oshima.
