posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The comic news site Bleeding Cool posted an exclusive clip from Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty film, which Optimum Releasing shipped on DVD and Blu-ray in the United Kingdom on Monday. The clip depicts the title character's second meeting with Sho and the boy's effort to rescue the borrower from an angry crow.
The British dub of the film features a different voice cast from the American one. The British cast includes Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones/Atonement) as the tiny girl Arrietty; Tom Holland (one of the boy actors who took the lead role in the stage musical version of Billy Elliott) as a human boy, Sho; Geraldine McEwan (Marple) as Haru, a human housekeeper; and Olivia Colman as Arrietty's mother, Homily.
The USA Film Festival in Dallas announced on Friday that it will screen The Secret World of Arrietty on January 22 at 3:00 p.m. Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's Arrietty film will receive a theatrical run in North America starting on February 17. Arrietty ran in U.K. theaters last August. The movie originally opened in Japanese theaters in July 2010 with supervision by Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki.
