U.S. Presidential Candidate Cain Admits Quoting Pokémon
posted on by Egan Loo
U.S. presidential candidate Herman Cain acknowledged on Saturday that he has been quoting a Pokémon anime film throughout his campaign. During his Saturday speech in which he announced that he is "suspending" his campaign, he said, "I believe these words came from the Pokémon movie. Life can be a challenge... But you and I can make a difference. There's a mission just for you and me."
Throughout his campaign until Saturday, Cain had quoted the same words but cited a "poet." Cain was actually paraphrasing the song "The Power of One" by Donna Summer from the Pokémon 2000 film. (The film was released in Japan in 1999, but came out in the United States a year later).
Since Cain "suspended" his campaign but did not officially drop out of the race, he is still officially a candidate.
