Eva's Khara to Produce Video for Joint Ghibli Event
posted on by Egan Loo
Khara, the studio best known for animating the four-movie remake of Gainax's Evangelion franchise, is producing the video footage that will appear in the event that Studio Ghibli is sponsoring on July 21.
Ghibli is celebrating the opening of its Kokuriko-Zaka Kara film by holding a live event at nicofarre, the brand-new event hall that the Nico Nico Douga streaming service is building in Tokyo's trendy Roppongi district. The nicofarre hall will have giant LED monitors on the ceiling and four walls, which will immerse visitors in seemingly full 360 degrees of Nico Nico Douga's signature scrolling comments from online users. Due to Nico Nico Douga's involvement, the hall can also stream events online.
The event will feature an onstage performance by the singer Aoi Teshima. Teshima first worked with Ghibli by lending her voice to the heroine and songs in Tales from Earthsea — the 2006 directorial debut of Goro Miyazaki, the son of Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. For Kokuriko-Zaka Kara, Teshima is working with the younger Miyazaki again by singing the film's ending theme song. Kokuriko-Zaka Kara composer Satoshi Takebe will accompany Teshima on the piano.
