Manga artist George Asakura drew his version of Academy Award-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet for a bonus postcard given to attendees who purchase tickets to see the live-action film Hot Summer Nights. The 2017 crime drama opens in Japan on August 16 and the postcards will be handed out beginning on August 24.
IMDb describes the film's story:
In the summer of 1991, a sheltered teenage boy comes of age during a wild summer he spends in Cape Cod getting rich from selling pot to gangsters, falling in love for the first time, partying and eventually realizing that he is in over his head.
Asakura paid close attention to capturing Chalamet's eyelashes which she described as, "a fountain of intelligence and sorrow."
Asakura's Drowning Love (Oboreru Knife) manga ran for 17 volumes from 2004 to 2013 in Bessatsu Friend magazine. Kodansha Comics is publishing the series digitally. Del Rey previously published A Perfect Day for Love Letters in English in 2005.
