Plot Summary:
Jun'ichi, nickname Copper, is a young teen in Tokyo in the late 1930s. He lives with his mother, his father having died a year or so prior to the story, and his uncle fills that role, helping Copper to understand how to parse the world around him. The story is divided between Copper's own story and the notebook his uncle keeps for him, full of musings and information to help Copper ultimately decide how it is that he wants to live his life.
