Funimation Adds Episode Download Feature to iOS/Android Apps
posted on by Karen Ressler
FUNimation Entertainment announced on Thursday that its FunimationNow iOS and Android app now offers subscribers the ability to download episodes. The app allows users to download up to 13 episodes at a time.
Downloaded episodes will default to the language preference in the user's account settings, but for Android the language can be changed at any time. This feature is planned for iOS.
Funimation launched the FunimationNow app for iOS, Android, Kindle, and Windows 10 devices in the United States in March 2016, replacing its old streaming apps on various devices. The app also launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the same month, and then launched in Australia and New Zealand in March 2017.
The app launched for Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Roku in July 2016. The app is also available on Apple TV. Funimation announced in September 2016 that it would release the app for the PlayStation Vita, but the app isn't currently available on the device.
The service recently re-added more than 300 subtitled anime titles after Funimation and Crunchyroll ended their content-sharing partnership. Funimation has signed a first-look deal with Hulu for Hulu to stream some of the shows that are also on FunimationNow.
