Nomura: Final Fantasy VII Game Remake Will Be 'Next PR Priority' After Kingdom Hearts III
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
In an interview with Famitsu.com on Friday, game director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that the Final Fantasy VII remake will be the next PR priority for Square Enix after the release of Kingdom Hearts III in January 2019.
Nomura stated he wanted to clear up some misinformation that was circulating online after comments he gave at an event at the Artnia Café in Tokyo earlier in November. Those comments garnered speculation that development on the Final Fantasy VII remake had not started yet or was not advancing. Nomura clarified that, just as he said at E3, development on the remake is progressing favorably.
Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda revealed in 2017 that the game is slated for release in about the next three years.
Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy VII remake in 2015.
Tetsuya Nomura is returning to the Final Fantasy VII PlayStation 4 remake game as its director after serving as the character designer for the original game, and Kazushige Nojima is also returning to write the scenario.
