Pacific Rim 2 Film Delayed to August 2017

Universal announced on Thursday that release of its Pacific Rim 2 film has been moved to August 4, 2017. The film studio announced last June that it planned to release the sequel to Guillermo del Toro's live-action Pacific Rim film in 3D and IMAX on April 7, 2017.
Del Toro stated in November that the sequel will take place a few years after the events in the original film, and that the world is now Kaiju-free.
Zak Penn and Travis Beacham are returning to write the film with del Toro, and an animated series and new comic are also in the works. Warner Brothers had distributed the first film in 2013, but Legendary ended their co-financing and co-producing deal at the end of that year. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are returning to produce with del Toro, Mary Parent and Callum Greene. Jillian Share is an executive producer.
